Congratulations to Dr. Thomas Irons, Access East chief medical officer, and storied former ECU Brody School of Medicine professor and pediatric physician, for his recognition from the North Carolina Association of Free and Charitable Clinics. The NCAFCC presented Dr. Irons with its Spirit of Free and Charitable Clinics Award late last month, celebrating his “sacrifice, compassion and contributions.”Dr. Irons, seen here with staff from the west Greenville free clinic named in his honor, cannot be celebrated enough. Call (252) 847-3027 or visit www.NCNavigator.net to schedule a free personal appointment with one of our Navigators or ACA Assistors. The Access East HealthAssist Uninsured Network will be sponsoring a document-shred event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Craven County Senior Center, 811 George St. in New Bern.NC SHIIP (the Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program) funded this event to dispose safely of unwanted documents such as old tax returns, bank statements, etc., that may contain personally identifiable information that could be used for fraud.A shred truck will be parked at the Senior Center for the event, and people can simply drive by and drop off their unwanted paper. ...
